Rebranding Yellow House Quilter and designing packaging for quilt patterns created an interesting set of challenges:
1.) The original brand centered around the large yellow house the client once lived in. The client wanted to keep the name the same but needed to update her brand. Solution: Make the identity about a yellow bird house—a neutral icon.
2.) Store racks contain hundreds of quilt patterns. How do we draw attention to these ones? Solution: Using lots of open white space to let the customer's eyes find rest on these packages.
3.) How do we create an interesting package without overshadowing what really needs to be the star of the show—the photographed quilt itself? Solution: Develop unique and modern "cut-out" graphics to frame the quilt picture.
